About ESICM 2026
The 39th Annual Congress of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM 2026) will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 10th to 14th October 2026.
The ESICM is one of the world’s leading professional societies dedicated to intensive care medicine. Its mission is to enhance patient outcomes and promote evidence-based practices through a broad range of research initiatives. These include large-scale surveys, clinical trials, and the support of specialized research groups focused on critical areas within intensive care. In addition, the Society awards research grants to encourage expert collaboration and groundbreaking studies. ESICM also plays a key role in the development of clinical guidelines and recommendations, setting gold standards that help clinicians worldwide deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
Through these initiatives, ESICM ensures consistency, innovation, and excellence in intensive care practices—ultimately improving outcomes for critically ill patients.
